Invisalign is one method of orthodontic treatment that can straighten your smile through a series of invisible, removable and comfortable aligners that virtually no one can tell you are wearing. Invisalign trays are removable for cleaning and changing to a new set as your teeth move and straighten over time. As an added bonus, Invisalign trays can also be used with at-home and overnight teeth-whitening systems.
Types of Cases Invisalign® Can Correct
Invisalign® may be a treatment option to correct mild cases of the following:
- Overcrowding – when a lack of room in the jaw cause teeth to shift and overlap each other.
- Gapped Teeth – mild gaps between teeth can be a result of jaw development, or due to shifting following the loss of one or more teeth.
- Overbite – when the top teeth bite, or jut over the lower teeth.
- Underbite – when the bottom teeth bite over the upper teeth.
- Crossbite – when the upper and lower jaws do not line up properly.
- Open bite – when opposing teeth cannot make contact with each other.
Only an orthodontist or a dentist specially trained in Invisalign treatment can determine whether or not Invisalign treatment can give you the results you desire. Invisalign may be able to correct milder versions of the issues listed above, but is not always the best solution. If your dentist or orthodontist believes an alternative treatment method such as clear or lingual braces are needed instead, they will let you know and explain why.
At 1st Family Dental, Invisalign consultations are always free and do not require any commitment. We also offer interest-free and affordable financing options to help make this outstanding and discreet smile-transformation treatment fit into your budget.
Invisalign Treatment Process
The Invisalign treatment process consists of a customized treatment plan, made just for you, by your 1st Family Dental orthodontist or qualified dentist. At your kickoff visit, your dental professional will take pictures, x-rays and impressions of your teeth, which will include before photos, to track your progress and transformation throughout your treatment.
A set of custom aligners will be created for you at Invisialign’s laboratory. When you return to the office you will receive the aligners (made of BPA-free plastic), to ensure they fit properly. Invisalign trays are removable, but it is recommended to wear them for 20-22 hours per day for optimal results, removing them to brush and floss your teeth twice daily.
You will need to return to the office for a new set of aligners every two to six weeks, depending on the phase of treatment you are in, and how the movement of your teeth is progressing. The length of your treatment will depend on a variety of factors, including the type of correction needed, how quickly your teeth are moving, and if you are wearing your aligners as often as recommended.
Once your treatment is complete, you will receive the all-clear from your orthodontist or qualified dentist. We’ll take a set of “after” photos for you, and you’ll get to admire your beautiful new smile! If needed, a set of retainers will be made for you to ensure your hard work and beautiful results will last for life!
